Csilla Farkas

I was born in the year of the democratic transformation in Hungary, raised by a single mother in the 90s. Since an early age I engaged with serious topics. Social and cultural news, problems and theories were often the subject of our dinner conversations.

As I grew up, I did not only transfer the social, political and cultural issues into my artwork, but I also use the paper as a mirror to discover myself, process emotions and understand the world around/inside me.

My artwork is primitive. I develop a metaphoric language by watching everyday life carefully. I find it fascinating and challenging to communicate deep thoughts through simple, Dadaist ink and pencil drawings, collages, prints or photographs.
